Why Sun Zero?

  • Sun Zero curtains are the total solution. Fashion + performance all in one!
  •  Sun Zero curtains are a practical and affordable way to beautify any room in your house. They will help insulate your home, reduce energy loss, reduce outside noise, and enhance privacy.
  • Windows are one of the major areas of heat and cooling loss in your home. In the summer, Sun Zero curtains block the sun’s rays to keep your room cool. In winter, Sun Zero curtains trap air and help maintain the temperature in your home.

How do I chose the right window curtains?

Define your look
  • Decide what lifestyle suits your room. Is your room traditional, casual, formal or modern?
  • What type of fabric fits your lifestyle? Solid fabric, printed fabric, fabric with surface interest, sheer or matte fabric?
  • To achieve your Sun Zero look do you prefer: Woven blackout, thermal lined, room darkening, triple layer or lined curtains?
  • There are multiple sewing specifications for curtains; choose your favorite:

BACK TAB: Back tabs give an easy “pleat” look.

Measure your window
  • Width: Measure two to three times the width of your window to achieve the fullness that you desire.
  • Length: Typically window hardware is mounted 2-3” above & outside the window molding for a traditional look. To create a higher window, hang the rod at least 6” above the molding.
  1. To the window sill
  2. Just below the window sill
  3. Floor length
  4. Puddle length

Measuring

Chose your hardware
  • Choose your style of window hardware to tie your window together.
  • We recommend:
ROD POCKET: Use a standard or decorative curtain rod.
GROMMET: Use a decorative curtain rod.
BACK TAB: Use a decorative curtain rod.

How is Sun Zero tested?

Light Blocking Test

Sun Zero curtains are tested for light blocking at a 3rd party independent lab. The following diagram shows how this test is performed:

image002

  • 8” x 8” swatch is attached to specimen box
  • Light is transmitted onto the fabric
  • Light transmitted through the fabric is measured in a photometer and a % of light transmitted is calculated
  • 100 – % of light transmitted = % of light blocked
Energy Efficiency

Sun Zero curtains are tested for Energy Efficiency at an independent 3rd party laboratory. The testing method used determines the effect that the curtains have on reducing heat loss. The curtains are put on a window in a simulated room. Then the lab uses heaters, fans and thermometers to measure the heat lost through a single window. The data is analyzed by the lab and they can conclude the correct rate of heat transfer, which gives a % of energy saved.

Noise Reduction

Sun Zero curtains are tested for Noise Reduction at an independent 3rd party laboratory. Much like the Energy Efficiency test, the lab uses a simulated room to perform this testing. They subject the exterior of the room to constant noise, similar to street noise. They then measure the sound level inside the room to determine the amount of noise reduction that the curtain provides.
